This delightful and collectible set of Peruvian folk art pottery, consisting of a cylindrical mate cup and a small, handled dipper/scoop, is an authentic piece of Andean craftsmanship. Hand-painted with the iconic black llama silhouette against a creamy white band, the pieces feature a rich, glossy reddish-brown glaze that is typical of traditional terra cotta. The bases of both pieces are hand-signed by the artisan.
The set is in good used condition with no chips or cracks. However, as an authentic, handmade vintage piece, it displays characteristics inherent to its age and production:
The glaze on both pieces exhibits fine crazing. The white glaze band has a few rust-like spots bleeding through the color in places, which is natural for earthenware. The cup has a small, original white dot paint flaw under the clear glaze (see close-up photos).
This set is a wonderful, display-ready way to bring a touch of global art and rustic, bohemian flair into any curio or kitchen.
