The complete original album Outward Bound (Prestige/New Jazz 8236), Eric Dolphy's first album as a leader. It features Dolphy in a quintet format with Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Jaki Byard on piano, George Tucker on bass and Roy Haynes on drums. This was the first of various collaborations between Dolphy and Hubbard. As a bonus, two tracks which present Dolphy in a quintet format with Charles Mingus' trumpeter Ted Curson, who was the leader of the date.
